Today we will be looking at implementing the SWOT process and how leadership plays a role. The first part of this process is strengths, this refers to what the company has as a whole that gives them a competitive edge along with their assets. From a leadership perspective, one would want to look at how easily a product or service can be replicated, the number of competitors in the industry, and the consumer feedback on quality and price. These are important issues because leadership must ensure that the organization continues to improve upon their strengths and stays in touch with the market.

Weaknesses is the next area that will be addressed, with this topic, the leadership really needs to address issues such as employee turnover, any financial concerns, and any other deficiencies in the operation of the organization. This area is important because it allows the organization to self-examine and improve.

When looking at opportunities, these are areas that the company has that give them a competitive edge and more opportunity. Data collection will be imperative for leadership to analyze which opportunities would be most beneficial for the organization as a whole. When looking at the threats, these are the potential negative issues that could occur, or the what ifs that have to be evaluated so there is a plan in place if these issues occur. Leadership has a responsibility to evaluate budgets and look at processes and identify possible areas of concern that need to be monitored and have a plan in place if issues occur.

Overall, leadership's role is to be open minded and communicative with their employees to help guide the organization to success by using the assets the organization has and by analyzing outcomes using data.
