Paragraph (Purpose and Procedure): The purpose of the Introductory Paragraph is to set up and lastly deliver the thesis statement. Begin by identifying the titles and authors of the tales being examined, briefly touch on the plots and the problems raised by each, and conclude by identifying the key similarities (thesis statement).

Body Paragraphs/Topic Sentences: The purpose of each Body Paragraph (there must be a minimum of 6) is to supply evidence in support of the thesis statement. Each Body Paragraph must provide a distinct and different reason for your reader to accept your thesis. Every Body Paragraph must begin with a true Topic Sentence. The Topic Sentence is the single most important sentence in each Body Paragraph. It should appear as the first sentence of the paragraph. The claim or idea presented in this Topic Sentence must be the focus of the entire paragraph. 

NOTE: Each topic sentence must be a grammatically complete statement. It should be a reason in support of your thesis, and an arguable claim. It should not be a fact or a quote.
