  • 1995
  • Director: Oliver Parker
  • Rating: R

Using about 50% of the original Shakespearean text, director Oliver Parker brings a spare and engaging version of the play to the screen. Unfortunately, star Laurence Fishburne does not turn in his best performance here as Othello, but Kenneth Branagh's Iago is complex and persuasive. Also stars Irene Jacob as Desdemona.
