Ulrica (Urfried)

In spite of the wrongs which have been done to Ulrica, she appears more as a witch than a woman. Her guilt in consorting with the Norman lords allows sympathy to rise for her only momentarily. She provides a dramatic climax to the destruction of the palace of Torquilstone as she chants her death song from the turret.
