Arthur proclaims a tournament. Guinevere asks Launcelot to ride there wearing her token and requires him to make the token known to all of his own house so that they will not fight him. He agrees, then retires to rest and wait for the appointed day. As he lies beside a well, a lady huntress accidentally shoots him with an arrow and thus weakens him; but Launcelot fights anyway, with Lavine at his side. Gareth joins him against Arthur's knights, and the three are the heroes of the day.
