Altruism

Altruism is helping behavior (without expectation of extrinsic rewards and sometimes involving personal risk or sacrifice) that benefits individuals or society. Altruism originates, as does aggression, from biological components such as instincts, from learning through such methods as reinforcement, and through modeling of significant others.
