Established in 1937, Toyota Motor Corporation is a leader among auto manufacturers around the world. Its popular products include the Camry, Corolla, Sienna, Tacoma, hybrid Prius, and luxury models within the Lexus line.
Much of Toyota's production takes place in its country of origin: Japan. Toyota manufactures vehicles and components in 26 other countries and regions, primarily North America. Plants also can be found in Europe (including France, Poland, Turkey, and the U.K.); Asia (including China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand); Africa (Kenya and South Africa); Central and South America (Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, and Venezuela), and Oceania. The top worldwide market for both Toyota and Lexus brand vehicles is the United States, followed by Japan. In descending order of sales for 2006, the next markets in the top ten were China, Thailand, Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany, and the U.K. In all, Toyota markets vehicles in more than 170 countries/regions.
