1. Write a “Chapter XXXV” that explains what Jim did or plans to do with his share of the treasure. Try to remain faithful to Jim’s character and to his time and place; assume that his division is 20,000 pounds, and remember that this is at least forty times what the average crewman on a merchant ship at the time earned in his entire lifetime.
2. Research the “Golden Age of Piracy” (from 1715 to 1725, approximately; see the CliffsNotes Resource Center for possible sources) and write an essay on two or more causes of piracy during that time.
