Pectoral Girdle and Upper Limb

Each of the two pectoral (shoulder) girdles consists of two bones: the S-shaped clavicle and the flat, triangular scapula. The clavicle articulates with the sternum and the scapula. In turn, the scapula articulates with the humerus of the arm. The upper limb, which consists of the arm, forearm, and hand, is made up of 30 bones. Figure 1 illustrates details of these bones.
