Faddish words are words that you suddenly see and hear everywhere. Commentators, advertisers, public relations people, educators, business people, and so on pick up or coin terms that then enjoy a moment (or longer) in the sun: dysfunctional, parenting, syndrome, ethnicity, decision-making, cultural diversity, dialogue (as a verb), viable, counterproductive, entrepreneurial, etc. Some of them last, some fade, some disappear altogether. Faddish words can quickly become overused expressions.
