Nevada's 2nd congressional district is the largest district that does not encompass an entire state. It occupies all of Nevada outside of some parts of Clark County (Las Vegas). Reno is the largest city in Nevada's 2nd congressional district.
Comparing it against all congressional districts, Nevada's 2nd congressional district is the third-largest by area, smaller only than Alaska's and Montana's congressional districts, both of which span their entire states.
Nevada's 2nd district is currently represented by Republican Mark Amodei. The population of this district leans heavily to the right — Republicans have held this Congressional seat since the district was created in the 1980 census. In presidential elections, this district has also always voted for the Republican candidate, though not always overwhelmingly so; in the 2008 election, John McCain beat Barack Obama here by only 88 votes!
